I stopped smoking 13 years ago and started having the odd cigarette recently, but only when socialising. Around 12 months ago, I started vaping using a 2% nicotine vape but did not get a ‘Good hit’ with the vape, so I smoked tobacco too. I never had one or the other out of my hand and did not realise the vapes were so addictive. Plus, I developed a cough again, which was one of the reasons I initially stopped. I decided ‘enough was enough’ and found a stop-smoking clinic at Agbrigg Community Centre, where I met my advisor, Carmen.

We discussed options, and together we formed a plan. To my surprise, I opted for the NRT lozenges, which were very effective and used with my vape. I gradually reduced to a zero-nicotine vape and decided I wanted to stop that.

I attended weekly and liked seeing my CO readings in the non-smoker bracket. Carmen was very supportive throughout the quit programme, and I am grateful for her patience, knowledge, and weekly support.

I am now tobacco smoke and vape-free

Thank you.
